Street legends together
It's hard to find a second pair of this type - an outstanding skater and skateboarding brand that would ignite crowds around the world and not necessarily those associated only with the board. Both icons are almost equal - Vans started operations in 1966, Tony Hawk was born two years later. From the idea of the Van Doren brothers, the brand and its first shoe model, Authentic, were created, which skateboarders loved for a vulcanized, extremely durable and durable sole. Two of them [Peralta, Alva] helped the brothers create another iconic product - Vans Era. We can only guess in which of them, in his youth, the second of the characters in the story flashed, but as he claims: "... Vans shoes were the first skate shoes I wore in 1978 ..."!
In the next decade, the young American gained fame in his environment but was perfectly suited for commercial endeavors, such as presenting his skills in feature and industry films. His fame, however, brought him the trick that he showed the world as the first skater in history, we are talking about the legendary "900" or performing with the board two and a half turn around its axis. This trick gave him prestige in the environment and boosted his shares in showbiz, which culminated in the creation of the game, together with Activision company called Tony Hawk’s Skateboardings. The game quickly gained recognition, thanks to which more hits were created and Tony was elevated to the name of one of the hottest faces for advertisers. Thus, Hawk promoted even Apple Computer or Domino’s Pizza, i.e. brands that need no introduction.
At that time, the construction of public skateparks started around the world, which Vans actively supported, also financially. He set up his own only in 2010, but for decades he supported with equipment and financial means the most promising young skateboarders but also those who have long been recognized in the environment and are still successful. Such was already "Birdman", which with Vanses crossed many times throughout his career, even winning classics organized by the brand from California.
Today, both icons have joined forces again to promote skateboarding on a broader scale than before, Tony Hawk is to help the brand in the re-start of the Vans Park professional competitions, while providing them with their commentary and also to take a number of other initiatives in the main role.
While waiting for further moves from Vans x Tony Hawk, you will have a nice time browsing Vans products on offer, which includes not only classic models of shoes such as Authentic, Era, Old Skool or Slip-On but also a powerful collection of clothing, perfect for everyday wear .
