short guide about Air Max

When in the crazy 80s Nike's main shoe designer - Tinker Hatfield presented the world with a footwear model with a partially visible gas cushion, responsible for better cushioning for runners, no one could have guessed that this would change the entire market for decades, not just sports shoes all people.

short guide about Air Max

The so-called. The "game changer" was presented by the manufacturer from Oregon in 1987 model Nike Air Max 1 in white and red colors. The silhouette, which according to inspiration corresponds to the inverted Pompidou shopping center located in Paris, caused quite a stir in the world despite the fact that Nike used this technology earlier.

The sales success of the first release of the shoe with the Air Max system meant that work on further models with the exposed system continued. In this way, after the often neglected Air Max Light, the world received the Nike Air Max 90 model, where the number referred to its release date, i.e. 1990. Compared to its predecessors, a mesh-suede upper has been preserved, while thanks to a larger pillow the shoe has gained cushioning but lost a slim figure. However, the colors called 'infrared' were bought by everyone, which is demonstrated by the brand's further activities, which were often used on other models in later years.

Due to evolution - the Air Max line, initially dedicated to athletes just like other silhouettes of the brand, with time it was more often visible on the streets of the city creating a canon of sports footwear, when we mention the words of the co-founder Nike and Oregon athlete trainer Bill Bowerman that "every man has body, so you can consider him an athlete "it should not come as a surprise. However, the Air Max 180 or Air Max models being the first where the system was even more exposed will be mentioned through the next three AM blocks, i.e. 95, 97 and 98!

The solutions from the 90s were heavily based on the style of the previous decade, even such a valued block as Air Max had to get a new character, not only because of the system [first exposed in the front of the shoe] but also the uppers, whose quick look is a tribute for runners transferring their entire weight from the heel to the toes. We see this in the transverse stripes forming it and a mesh-like protective coating for the lacing system.

The next two years brought the next two silhouettes - Air Max 97 and Air Max 98! Christan Tresser is responsible for the first one, who unveiled the cushion with the system even more strongly and transferred his own interpretation of the Tokyo Metro train network to the uppers. In the second, initially not very popular 98, its creator - Sergio Lozano put on the same sole a completely different upper, although it does not lack "borrowings" from the model Air Max 95, of which he was the author.

The last model of footwear with skate before the end of the millennium, from the Air Max 360 series, in the color scheme referring to its protoplast, although changes in the design of the shoe have taken place over the decades significant, as you can see in the photo above. The Nike Air Max 360 model was the inspiration for more products with a gas cushion like VaporMax, Air Max 270 or Air Max 720.
