Although each of the guests invited to the ceremony, on the red carpet leading to the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles tries to look and behave perfectly, after crossing the threshold everything can happen, which is shown by over 90 years of awarding statuettes.
We chose five events out of it, which caused quite a stir in the environment and among the spectators, disturbed the generally accepted order or embarrassed.

1936

1936

There were several people who received the Oscar for almost a century and then dropped it, but the most remembered will be the one who "did it" first, and so Dudley Nichols, who received the award for the script for the film "The Informer".

1964

1964

America of the 1960s was still struggling with the problem of racial segregation, the more agitated was Ann Bancroft, giving a kiss to Sidney Poitier, who had just received the statuette for her best leading role in the film "Lilies Of The Field".

1969

1969

An unusual situation occurred during the last ceremony in the 1960s, when members of the American Film Academy cast the same number of votes for two actresses - Audrey Hepburn and Barbra Streisand. Thus, for the first time two awards in the same category were handed out, fortunately for Barbara Streisand debuting on the big screen, her colleague from the industry at the gala did not appear that year.

1974

1974

Another of the scandals was caused by Robert Opel, an American artist and photographer who during the gala paraded naked as if he was opposing the policy of the City of Angels authorities prohibiting nudist access to the beaches.

2017

1974

One of the biggest mishaps occurred not so long ago, in 2017, when the Academy itself caused problems due to handing an envelope with the picture "La La Land" instead of "Moonlight" incorrectly pointing to the best film. This caused considerable confusion among those responsible for both titles mentioned above.

Will the 92nd edition of the Oscars give similar impressions, cause a lot of controversy? We'll find out about this on the night of February 9, 2020.
